Meet NHH researchers during the Research Days
Why are 1,500 kilos of litter left behind at Brann Stadium over the course of a year? And what is wrong when more than 700,000 people are outside both work and education?
Several hundred researchers and more than 10,000 members of the public will take part when the Research Days in Bergen open on 15 September.
The festival is a broad collaboration between the city’s research and higher education institutions. Its aim is to generate enthusiasm for and understanding of research – and to show what research means in our everyday lives. All events during the Research Days are held in English.
As usual, NHH researchers will be taking part in a wide range of events.
Forsker Grand Prix kicks off the festival
On 15 September, ten PhD candidates will compete to communicate their research in just four minutes at Forsker Grand Prix. NHH has no candidates in this year’s competition, but Professor Therese Egeland (Department of Strategy and Management) will be on the jury alongside Kjetil H. Dale from TV 2 and actor and stage manager Stine Revheim Svellingen.
The show starts at 19:00 at HVL.
Kunnskapspub – Ten takes on trust
The following day, research moves to Bergen Street Food. At Kunnskapspub – Ten takes on trust, ten people from research, business, civil society and the innovation community will each have seven minutes to share their perspectives on trust. One of them is NHH Associate Professor Joel Berge, Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law.
The event starts at 19:00 on Wednesday 16 September.
Research Days for young people
On 17 and 18 September, young people take centre stage. Interest in Forskningsdagene Ung is extremely high, and a large number of school classes from Bergen and the surrounding area will meet researchers from the city’s academic institutions. More than ten schools are currently on the waiting list to send classes on one of the two days:

The world’s best working life – but for whom?
More than 700,000 people are outside both work and education. How can one of the world’s best working lives be out of reach for so many – and can we afford it? NHH Professors Kjell Gunnar Salvanes and Øystein Thøgersen (both Department of Economics) will join researchers from UiB and HVL for a panel discussion. The panel will be moderated by NORCE researcher Tonje Fyhn.
