Haaland promoted to full professor at NHH

Ingar K. Haaland (34) at the Department of Economics has been promoted to full professor. He earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from NHH, completing his PhD also at NHH in 2019.

This week Ingar K. Haaland was promoted to full professor at NHH. He has been a tenure-track assistant professor at the Department of Economics and a researcher at Norwegian Centre of Excellence FAIR.

In 2023, Haaland was awarded eight million NOK from the Research Council of Norway as a Young Research Talent for his project "Polarize: Media Bias and Political Polarization." He has eight peer-reviewed articles in top-tier international journals, including the prestigious Quarterly Journal of Economics and other leading publications like the Economic Journal and the Review of Economics and Statistics. Additionally, he received NHH's publication bonus for two articles published in the same year—a rare accomplishment.

Tungodden summarizes Haaland’s career as follows:

`We have had the pleasure of working with Ingar since we met him as a student in the undergraduate course Economics and Psychology more than ten years ago, and we are incredibly impressed by all he has achieved. His research is groundbreaking in understanding the increasing polarization in society.´
