The working paper by Daniel Carvajal, Catalina Franco, and Siri Isaksson titled 'Will Artificial Intelligence Get in the Way of Achieving Gender Equality?' is featured in The Economist.
In their working paper, Carvajal, Franco, Isaksson dive deep into the emerging world of generative AI, exploring how it might impact men and women differently in the workplace.
Their findings show generative AI could widen existing gender gaps in the labor market, but appropriate encouragement and policies can prevent this outcome.
"Another potential explanation for the gender imbalance comes from a survey of 486 students by Daniel Carvajal at Aalto University and Catalina Franco and Siri Isaksson at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). It also found a gender gap: female students enrolled in the NHH’s only undergraduate programme were 18 percentage points less likely to use ChatGPT often." (The Economist)
