Jialei Yang

Jialei Yang is an Associate Professor at the Department of Strategy and Management at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). She is also affiliated with the Digital Innovation for Growth (DIG) Center, Norway’s leading research center on digital transformation and innovation.

Jialei received her doctoral degree from the University of Oulu (doctoral thesis “Distinction”). Her thesis focuses on the dynamics in appropriating value from innovation and inter-organizational collaborations, set in the contexts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and healthcare.

In 2019, Jialei was a visiting scholar at the Haas School of Business (University of California, Berkeley). In 2022, she was appointed as a SCANCOR Scholar at Stanford University. She also conducted an informal visit to both UC Berkeley and Stanford University in 2024.

Jialei’s research focuses on strategy and innovation management (especially innovation appropriability and open innovation), as well as technology entrepreneurship and impact investing. Her work has been published in influential journals including Research Policy, California Management Review, and Technovation.
