Claudia Elena Urrego Zapata is a research scholar in the Department of Professional and Intercultural Communication at NHH.

She holds a master’s degree in Translation from Universidad de Antioquia (2017). Her bachelor’s degrees include degrees in civil engineering and translation. 

Her research interests focus on the relationships between translating scientific texts and the assumed universality of language, the history of translation, cultural transfer, and agents of translation. Her work experience includes translating, reviewing, editing, proofreading, teaching, and managing a university translation agency for 4 years.

Her current research focuses on a Pre-Editing Perspective of Translation, reflecting on how, despite all the narrative about NMT eventually disregarding the agency of translators and the promises of higher levels of current systems, human intervention is still very much needed in all the aspects related to translation and edition.
