Economic History
The research group in economic history is very diverse, and members are currently engaged in various Norwegian and international research networks and projects.
Three areas of research have been particularly important in recent years:
- The first is historical national accounts, based on the unique material in the Wedervang-archive of Norwegian wages and prices.
- The second is maritime history, in particular whaling and modern merchant shipping.
- The final is quantitative monetary history, including monetary statistics for Norway, and research on international macroeconomic and financial issues.
Moreover, members of the research groups have published books and articles within business history.
In addition to conventional company histories, this research has dealt with topics such as patents, innovation and entrepreneurship.
