Too much exemption with the tax-exemption method
Guttorm Schjelderup: In the public debate wealth tax is emphasised as the reason why the richest people emigrate, but the tax savings by avoiding capital gains taxation amounts to much more.
The tax system in Norway is built on the principle that those with the highest income, should proportionally pay the highest taxes. The tax-exemption method and the shareholder model undermines this principle, Guttorm Schjelderup writes.
