FAIR Conference Midway Conference

The conference celebrated our five-year anniversary as a center of excellence and showcased our many exciting research projects. The keynote speakers were James Heckman (University of Chicago), Oriana Bandiera (LSE), Joseph Henrich (Harvard), and Stefanie Stantcheva (Harvard).

The Midway Conference 2022 featured a diverse programme with parallel sessions and flash talks on a wide range of topics. It offered attendees both professional networking opportunities and the chance to enjoy the stunning island of Sommarøy.

Keynote Speakers:

  • James Heckman (University of Chicago) – A Nobel laureate in Economics, Heckman is renowned for his work on the economics of human development and the importance of early life interventions in shaping future success.
  • Stefanie Stantcheva (Harvard University) – A leading economist specialising in the impact of public policies on inequality, education, and social mobility.
  • Joe Henrich (Harvard University) – Known for his pioneering research in evolutionary anthropology, Henrich explores how culture and human behaviour intersect.
  • Oriana Bandiera (London School of Economics) – An expert in development economics, Bandiera’s research focuses on the role of institutions and incentives in shaping individual and group behaviour.

In between sessions, attendees were able to explore Sommarøy's breathtaking surroundings through hiking and kayaking.
