SUMMARY

The PhD course FSK504 (2.5 ECTS) aims to provide in-depth knowledge of topics in language and communication studies relating to migration, integration and the labour market. Research issues that will be discussed are language requirements, workplace interaction, language ideology and politics, and workplace second language learning.

The course will have a combination of keynote lectures and shorter presentations of research, as well as hands-on sessions where individual PhD proposals and draft papers/chapters are discussed. We are delighted to welcome Professor Jo Angouri, (Warwick University) Assistant Professor Kamilla Kraft (UCPH) and Associate Professor Kamran Khan as keynote speakers.

Application deadline: 1 September 2023
To attend FSK504 as a visiting student, you must apply and upload all necessary documentation no later than 1 September.

ECTS Credits: 2.5

Compulsory activity: Deadline 17 September 2023
Please note that all admitted candidates, as a preparation for the course, must submit a draft article or project description for PhD project in Canvas (maximum 25 pages) no later than 17 September.

Practical information
Course program:

Day 1: 10 a.m. to 4.15 p.m.
Room: Auditorium F (10.00 - 4.15).
Course dinner in the evening (Villani Skostredet)

Day 2: 9 a.m. to 4.15 p.m. 
Room: Auditorium H (9.00 - 12.00), Auditorium I (12.00 - 4.15).

Day 3: 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Room: Auditorium I (9.00 - 12.30).

There is no course fee.

NHH invites all participants to attend a course dinner in the evening 4 October. Coffee and tea will be provided during the course. All other expenses (travel, accommodation etc.) must be covered by the participants.
