Profiling DIG in communication with clients
KPMG Norway have two main reasons for their strategic partnership with DIG. – Norway needs to succeed with digital innovation, and KPMG wants to be at the front of that development, says Tormod Voje, Partner and head of technology enablement.
- Partnering with DIG is one of the initiatives we have selected to play a positive role in Norwegian society in an important area. Additionally, we are reaping benefits for our own organization in both long and short term, he says.

KPMG Norway is one the major suppliers in the Norwegian market for audit services and business consulting. Their service areas connected to digital transformation has been one of the main driving growth factors for several years. KPMG use the cooperation with research centre DIG to ensure that they are updated on the latest research and to transform theory into practises that improves the services they offer their clients.
- We believe it’s crucial that we succeed in bridging the gap between business and research. DIG’s close connection with business is a model we believe will bring relevance and benefits for both, Voje says.
Important meeting places
- Through DIG, we also get the chance to network, discuss important topics and upskill our people. Events such as the DIG Summit and different Corporate Work Shops are very important to us. They bring opportunities for our employees to gain insights not available to them elsewhere, Tormod Voje tells us and adds that one of the most important takeaways from DIG in general is the opportunity to learn and expand important networks. – We build valuable relationships with relevant people from academia and other DIG partners, and we get to connect with students who could be future colleagues.
Developing and using AI across the business
KPMG Norway is committed to exploring, developing and implementing AI across their entire business and all the services they offer. - Our mission is to lead this development, as we increase both digital and technical expertise across all areas of our business. We want to be the partner that brings real value from AI here and now, while also helping you navigate safely forward.
The partnership with DIG ensures that KPMG Norway gets early access to research from DIG and allows KPMG Norway to provide input on what’s important to them and their clients. – We can turn insights into opportunities and develop our services, thereby enhancing our competitiveness, says Tormod Voje.
On a final note, he adds that in the future he hopes to see DIG being even more proactive and open about research findings and share knowledge from ongoing research activities along the way. – This is important for us and our clients. We are built for constant change and improvement, and frequent drips of insights is very useful for us, compared to only waiting for published results to be available.
Voje says that KPMG Norway takes notice of the level of investments, research and innovation into AI and technology in countries outside Europe. – As a member of an international network, we get great value from big players like KPMG International and Microsoft being able to commit huge investments together into emerging technologies. But we are also focused on the need to strengthen Norwegian and Nordic competitiveness. As we can’t compete on investments, we must at least take advantage of our very digital societies and think and move faster than others.
AI and the silver economy
KPMG Norway has a diverse portfolio of clients and Tormod Voje adds that they are well aware of the need for many businesses to maintain an age-diverse staff. – We need to understand this and see how AI and other digital solutions can be applied to organizations with an age-diverse staff, he says.
