Nice jump in salary for NHH graduates
The average starting salary for new NHH graduates is almost NOK 540 000, according to the NHH labour market survey.
The average starting salary including bonuses, overtime and benefits for NHH graduates went up from NOK 507 000 in 2013 to NOK 536 000 last year. That is an increase of 5.6 percent.
The annual labour market survey measures how well NHH graduates are accepted into the labour market.
"In 2014, there were 714 master's graduates. That's a new record. I'm pleased to see that there are still plenty of jobs for economists from NHH. Salaries are increasing all the time, and the vast majority find work before they've finished studying or soon afterwards," says Rector Frøystein Gjesdal.
About three out of four NHH students get a job before they finish their studies, according to the survey.
The three main sectors for new NHH graduates are auditing, consulting and banking/insurance/finance. The biggest decline is in the oil and gas industry, where the proportion has halved since the previous year.
Figures from the NHH labour market survey
82.6 percent of NHH candidates stated that they were working in a relevant job half a year after graduation. The year before, the figure was 86.6 percent.
25 percent of candidates got a job in auditing, 23 percent in consulting and 11 percent in banking/insurance/finance. The increase is greatest in the auditing industry.
94 percent of NHH candidates found jobs in Norway. The proportion that got jobs abroad declined from 10.9 percent in 2013 to 6 percent this year.
58.7 percent got a job in Oslo, 19 percent in Bergen and 10.1 percent in Stavanger.
