Fourteen Nordic finance departments cooperate
The Department of Finance, together with the Nordic Finance Network, hosted recently the PhD Nordic Finance Workshop at NHH.
The finance workshop brought together doctoral students and faculty members from institutions all over the Nordics. It offered doctoral students an opportunity to present their research and receive feedback from faculty and fellow students.
The workshop featured fifteen presentations by doctoral students. Their work spanned all areas of financial economics from corporate finance to asset pricing and financial intermediation. Faculty members served as discussants. The first day also featured a keynote by Ran Duchin from Boston College, an internationally leading scholar in corporate finance.
The PhD Workshop is an annual initiative from the Nordic Finance Network, a collaboration of fourteen Nordic finance departments from Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.
The network aims to facilitate dialogue and interaction among researchers, especially among doctoral students and junior faculty. In addition to the annual PhD Workshop, the network also runs an annual event for junior faculty members, the Young Scholars Workshop. Member institutions take turns in hosting the annual events. Moreover, doctoral students can benefit from the network by taking intensive PhD courses at the various member institutions.
The doctoral students and faculty at the Department of Finance benefit greatly from access to NFN and close cooperation with our neighbours. We are looking forward to contributing to the continued success of the network by hosting the Young Scholars Workshop in 2026 at NHH.
