600 international students will gather in Bergen

Joelle (26) and other students from across the globe are gathering in Bergen ahead of the grand CEMS annual events and Graduation Ceremony this December.

This is CEMS

  • The CEMS allience was founded in 1988. Since then it has grown from four to 33 schools across six continents.
  • The program offers two degrees in only two years and can be combined with any major profile at NHH.
  • CEMS ranks high internationally. In the most recent Financial Times ranking, two out of the top six schools are CEMS members.
  • Over 750 NHH students have received their CEMS degree since the school joined the alliance in 1992.
  • In the same period NHH have also hosted close to 600 foreign students from other CEMS schools abroad.
  • There are now over 20 000 CEMS alumni from over 100 countries world wide.

It has been 23 years since the last CEMS Annual Events was held at the Norwegian School of Economics.

Now it's back and bigger than ever.

'I'm so proud of Norway and NHH hosting the CEMS Annual events and I'm pretty sure it's going to be amazing!', says soon-to-be-graduate, Joelle Soumi (26)

Between the 4th and 7th of December 1700 students, faculty, academics and corporate partners, will gather in Bergen for the annual events and grand graduation ceremony.

'To host is a big thing. It gives us an opportunity to welcome CEMS colleagues and graduands from all over the world to NHH and Bergen, and to showcase what we have to offer, both as a school and as a city', says the CEMS Academic Director at NHH, Jan I. Haaland.

Love for cems and bergen

CEMS is a stratigic allience between 33 world class academic institutions spreading out over six continents, 70 multinational companies and eight NGOs.

The CEMS Annual Events include two days of meetings in all CEMS boards and committees at NHH. The grand finally is the graduation ceremony in Grieghallen, where this year’s CEMS graduands and their family and friends will gather to celebrate their achievements.

CEMS at NHH: A Global Passport to Leadership and Opportunity

“I wanted to combine my studies with international experiences. It was an easy choice,” said Martin Løkse Sand.

Soumi is one of NHHs own soon-to-be-CEMS-graduates. She is originally from Lebanon, but based in Sweden.

'I think it is a well-balanced program, giving us the resources we need. Not only the hard skills, such as math and finance, but also teaching us soft skills as being well spoken, be able to debate, to hold conversations and to be empathetic. Every student gains something out of it – it’s something for everyone and I believe that is the reason students, myself included, enjoy CEMS’.

Now as she is graduating, she has fallen in love with Bergen and the people she has met here:

'Bergen surprised me in a really good way, it's so nice here and people made it even nicer. Bergen is such a cozy place and you can swim in a fjord! Don't let the rain stop you, Soumi says.

four international days

In addition to workshops, discussions and networking possibilities during the CEMS annual events, there will also be dinners and social events for the CEMS community as well as for the graduands and their guests.

'I hope the events will be smooth and grandiose, and in that sense a big significant memory for all participants. I also hope that Bergen, even in December, will be experienced as beautiful and exotic for people from other parts of the world', says rector Øystein Thøgersen.

Equinor is the main sponsor of the event together with Sanofi and ABB.
