Electronic School Exam

Electronic school exams are conducted in our exaimiation halls using your own computer. Your computer must meet specific technical and software requirements to ensure you can successfully complete the exams.

    Preparation for electronic school exams

    You must make necessary preparations before the exam, as no compensation will be provided for time lost during the exam due to inadequate preparation on your part.  

    • Carefully study information in all correspondence from the Section for Exams sent to your email address. Remember that it is your responsibility to check your student email. 

    • Study the guides and manuals relevant to your exam type. You can find links to the manuals on this page. Manuals will also be available directly in your exam flow approximately one week before the exam. You can access more WISEflow guides by clicking on "Support" at the bottom of the page after logging into WISEflow. 

    • Make sure that your computer and equipment meet the required specifications (operating system, storage, memory, etc.). 

    • Download and install the most recent version of web browser, use Chrome or Firefox for optimal performance. 

    • Make sure that your computer can connect to Eduroam. 

    • Uninstall any virtual computer software. 

    • Deactivate sleep mode on your computer. 

    • Disable automatic updates of the operating system just before the exam (NB! remember to enable it immediately after the exam).  

    • Close all programs and files before the exam starts. NB! On Mac computers, it is not sufficient to click the 'x' to close a program, you must right-click on the program and select “Quit”.   

    • Turn off all notifications. 

    • Ensure that you do not use VPN during the exam as it may trigger two-factor authentication. 

    • Download and test the latest versions of exam software (i.e. Lockdown browser and/or Device monitor, depending on your exam type). This must be done every semester at least one week before your first exam. 

    • Practice in demo flows that correspond to your exam type. To access demo flows, click on “Demo flows” near the bottom of the page in WISEflow.

  • Computer and software requirements

    Computer and software requirements

    You are required to bring your own laptop (PC or Mac) with a wired charger and a good-quality web camera that takes legible pictures. Tablets and other devices without full versions of operating systems for table-top computers are not allowed.     Permitted accessories include an external keyboard, webcam, or mouse, provided that they are wired devices with non-detachable cables, wireless connection is prohibited. You may not borrow equipment from other candidates during an examination.  

    It is students’ responsibility to meet at the exam with a computer that meets the requirements. NHH has a limited number of loaner computers that are reserved for students that experience acute issues with their own computers during the exam. You cannot book loaner computers in advance before the exam.

     

    Exam software

    School exams are conducted in WISEflow using either the Lockdown Browser or the Device Monitor. Most electronic exams are administered with the Lockdown Browser, while the Device Monitor is used for exams that require access to external software, such as Excel or R. 

    You must download and test the latest versions of exam software each semester before your exams.

    1. Open your web browser (we recommend using Chrome or Firefox) and log in to WISEflow using FEIDE. 
    2. Click on your name in the top right corner. Choose "Edit profile" 
    3. Go to the tab "System" 
    4. Click on "Download" the Lockdown browser and/or the Device monitor depending on the type of exam that you are going to have.

    5. Complete the installation on your computer. 

    6. Click on “Test browser” and/or “Test monitor” to test the installed software.  

    7. You will find WISEflow manuals provided by the software developer if you click on “Support” in the right-hand corner at the bottom of the page in WISEflow.

    Technical invigilators will be available during electronic school exams to assist with any questions regarding WISEflow or if you experience technical difficulties with WISEflow.
