THE BEDS INTERNSHIP SEMESTER

In the fourth semester, the course Internship BEDS with course code COM4 allows you to apply the knowledge gained during the first three semesters of your bachelor’s program. COM4 emphasizes practical work experience, with your performance evaluated by your workplace. In contrast, COM3 focuses on helping you reflect on your internship experience in relation to your academic studies.

COM4 is a 20 ECTS course offered exclusively for BEDS students during the fourth semester.

Find an internship
Send in an application form to have your internship approved by 1 December in your third semester: Application form for internship approval
The application must include a copy of your work contract:

Sign up to the courses COM3 and COM4 on Studentweb by 1 February in your forth semester

INTERNSHIP APPROVAL CRITERIA

The internship should encompass 450 hours (approximately 3 months) of work performed at a professional level between February and June. Work hours are based on an 8-hour day, Monday through Friday. While adjustments can be made, the full 450 hours must be completed by the end of June.
The internship must be paid or compensated according to the regulations of the country where it takes place.
Students should be assigned one or more challenging projects to complete independently or as part of a team.
Internship tasks must be related to one or more of the fields of business, economics, and data science.
The internship cannot be conducted remotely (e.g., from a home office).
Interns must have a designated contact person at the company or institution where they are interning.
Before the internship begins, interns must secure a work contract from their employer and apply for internship approval from NHH.

For students:

You must include a copy of your work contract when applying for approval.
If the internship is outside your country, you must obtain travel insurance covering the duration of the travel and the entire internship period beforehand.
Students attending COM4 must inform the Career Centre and the course responsible as soon as possible should any changes occur in the planned internship period.

Other regulations:

COM4 is offered only as a 4th-semester elective for BEDS students.
Previous internships, including summer internships from June to August, are not eligible for approval as a COM4 internship. This is because the internship is closely tied to the coursework in COM3, which is associated with the same internship.
The COM4 course carries 20 ECTS credits. Assessment (pass/fail) is based on an evaluation from the workplace (Evaluation Form)
The internship course will be registered in the same semester as the submission of the COM3 report.
