Structure of the programme
Programme objectives, learning outcome, programme component and structure and organisation of The Nordic Media Programme
The Nordic Media Programme (NMP) is a one-of-a-kind leadership journey designed to support media executives as they lead their organisations through complex and rapid change.
At the heart of NMP is a strong peer network, practical strategic frameworks, and space for personal reflection. Participants are encouraged to explore their leadership purpose, identify paths for meaningful transformation, and develop concrete solutions to pressing organisational challenges. The programme is open to both editorial and business-side leaders from across the Nordic media sector.
A signature element of NMP is the exceptional time devoted to peer collaboration. Participants bring real-life challenges to the workshops, which are addressed through structured learning formats inspired by design thinking, leadership consulting and participatory strategy. The learning process is guided by expert coaches with deep experience in strategy, change and leadership.
By completing NMP30, participants will:
-
Strengthen their ability to lead meaningful change and engage others in strategy processes.
-
Gain insight into customer behaviour and how news organisations can better serve audiences.
-
Develop personal leadership clarity through structured reflection and feedback.
-
Learn to co-create solutions to real challenges in peer settings, supported by expert facilitation.
-
Build a trusted network of Nordic media leaders.
1. Preparation: Self-evaluation and goal-setting
Participants complete a personal interview and leadership self-evaluation. Based on this, the NMP team helps define individual learning goals and may adapt workshop content to align with participant needs.
2. Digital Kick-off: First participant meetup
This online session introduces the programme structure and invites participants to begin formulating a key leadership challenge they wish to explore during the workshops.
3. Workshop 1: Understanding Consumers – Growing with Customers
Hosted in collaboration with NWT Media, this workshop focuses on understanding the evolving needs and behaviours of audiences. Participants will explore how media companies can grow by deepening customer insight and anchoring their work in user-centric strategy.
4. Workshop 2: Leading by Purpose, Meaning and Strategy
This workshop challenges participants to refine the stories and strategic narratives that underpin their leadership. Drawing on experiences from leading Norwegian media organisations, the focus is on how purpose can be embedded in strategy and organisational culture.
5. Workshop 3: Leading and Managing Change from Within
This workshop centres on internal transformation. Participants work in small groups to develop peer-supported solutions to leadership challenges drawn from their own organisations.
6. Workshop 4: My Personal Leadership Quest
The final module supports deep personal reflection. Participants will work through their individual leadership stories – past, present and future – and articulate how they intend to lead going forward.
NMP30 spans six months and consists of four in-person workshops, a preparatory interview and goal-setting exercise, and a digital kick-off meeting.
The workshops are held in different Nordic cities to support diverse perspectives and local case engagement.
The language of instruction is English. Participants are expected to be present for the full duration of each workshop.
