Cian is a PhD research scholar at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), affiliated with the FAIR research center as part of the Freedom to Choose project. Her doctoral research focuses on the contextual factors that shape individuals' perceptions of autonomy and how these perceptions impact behavior and wellbeing. She also investigates cultural variations in the relationship between autonomy and wellbeing.
Cian’s broader research interests are in the psychology of decision-making. She holds a double bachelor’s degree in psychology and economics from National Taiwan University (NTU), where she also worked as a research assistant at the Behavioral and Data Science Research Center. She later earned an MSc in Behavioural Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Her previous research topics include altruistic purchasing behavior for charitable products, the psychological appeal of conspiracy theories during COVID-19, the role of reference points in sequential decision-making on dating websites, and the pursuit of happiness among top university students.
