A dynamic perspective on team psychological safety
On Friday 16 June 2023 Bård Fyhn will hold a trial lecture on a prescribed topic and defend his thesis for the PhD degree at NHH.
Bård is a former naval officer with 15 years varied experience within military logistics and leadership training, involving international operations and a Bachelor’s degree from Royal Norwegian Naval Academy (Sjøkrigsskolen). He took his Master’s degree at NHH, and is now back to pursue his interests within leadership and teams from an academic perspective. His last position was as a leadership mentor at Sjøkrigsskolen, a useful experience when teaching leadership skills at NHH.
His research will focus on Team Psychological Safety.

Working in a team is not always easy. It did not get any easier after we were not allowed to meet face to face. But what does research tell us about digital teamwork that can help us in the ongoing corona pandemic?
Covid-19 is creating long-lasting changes to business and industry and the view of what constitutes a good leader. A new international survey shows that 'the world' now values leaders who are clearly empathetic and are tolerant of failure.
‘Imagine walking into a meeting and immediately feeling insecure when you see the people there. This lack of psychological safety impedes progress,’ says NHH PhD student Bård Fyhn, who is competing in Forsker Grand Prix.
