Frøystein Gjesdal completed bachelors- (1971) and masters- (1974) degrees NHH. He has also a M. Sc. (Statistics) and a Ph. D. (Business Administration) from Stanford University (1979). Gjesdal joined the faculty of NHH in 1979, and was promoted to full professor of Management Control in 1986. He has been adjunct professor at the University of Tromsø (1986-93), the University of Nordland (2000-2013), and was director at the Center for Financial Economics, SNF (1993-97). Gjesdal has been a visiting scholar at Stanford University, Yale University, London School of Economics and Political Science as well as University of Florida.
