Arent Greve, dr. oecon., is professor emeritus of organization theory at the Norwegian School of Economics, Bergen, Norway, where he received his doctoral degree in 1988. He was an adjunct professor at the University of Agder, Kristiansand, Norway, 2007-2012.

Greve has been employed at the Norwegian School of Economics since 1983, prior to that he was employed at the University of Bergen and The Center of Applied Research, Bergen.

Greve had a research stipend at the Norwegian School of Economics between 1970 and 1977, resulting in a Licentiat degree. He has also had long term visits as a research scholar at SCANCOR, Stanford University, and at Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, as well as Hong Kong University, and an adjunct position at the Department of Sociology, the University of Toronto.

He has had shorter visits at University of Manchester Institute of Technology, Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin, Stockholm School of Economics, and Hitotsubashi University.

His main research interests are topics related to social networks and social capital. He applies the concept to a variety of theoretical and empirical settings using social network analysis. Greve’s research covers both organizational as well as individual networks looking at knowledge networks, creativity, innovation of technology, telework, migration and settlement, labor markets for immigrant professionals, and entrepreneurship. His main theoretical point of departure is Institutional theory of organizations.
